Together for our network.

We are your partner – from the idea through to implementation.

As a young Swiss railway infrastructure company, we have our finger on the pulse of the times and understand our clients’ needs. Developing individual solutions and taking on sophisticated railway infrastructure projects for the Swiss railways – with top quality, efficiency and in all areas of expertise – are the focus of our business. We rely on the latest standards and intelligent project management, and provide both state-of-the-art machinery and full performance potential across all trades and for each project. We are supported by our parent company, SPITZKE SE.

In order to advance sustainable and networked mobility and rail-bound mobility infrastructure in partnership with our clients, we continuously raise our performance standards to the next level. A particular speciality of ours is track renewal using conveyor belt techniques. We used this method in Switzerland in 2016 during a joint pilot project with SBB AG, making us the pioneers on the Swiss market. Due to the unique and extremely varied geology in Switzerland, conveyor belt projects asked for an outstanding planning. A feasibility study with integrated interval planning in advance forms the basis for the most economic method for the track renewal with the most efficient use of track possessions. SRS SPITZKE RAIL SWISS AG is your professional partner – for constructing new tracks or renewing of an existing system–. Together we find the right solutions.

TRACK AND POINTS RENEWAL: BASEL BADISCHER BAHNHOF

All mainline and regional trains of SBB AG and DB AG stop at this station.

In 2017, Deutsche Bahn AG awarded SPITZKE the contract for the track and points renewal in the Badischen Bahnhof Basel. The work took place on Swiss territory. This was a particular challenge for SPITZKE as the contractor. Both the Swiss technical requirements and the technical regulations of Deutsche Bahn AG had to be rigorously followed and harmonised. The work involved renewing numerous metres of track and four points, including ballast replacement. All material movements took place by rail and were handled by SLG SPITZKE LOGISTIK GmbH, a sister company of SRS. In total, almost 2,000 t old ballast was removed, loaded onto railway wagons and transported from the site, and around the same quantity of new ballast was delivered to the site, unloaded and placed. Rails, sleepers and four points were also delivered by rail and were unloaded and preassembled in the station area. The subsequent installation of the large point components was undertaken during a short track possession period by “Oskar”, the SPITZKE KRC 810 T rail-mounted crane. The company’s own Unimat 09-475/4S universal tamping machine ensured the correct end position was reached. All construction machines and locomotives deployed fulfil the strict Swiss statutory requirements.

SBB TRACK RENEWAL: ZWEIDLEN – WEIACH-KAISERSTUHL

Pilot project in Switzerland. Project implementation from a single source.

SPITZKE’s Buchloe Branch worked in Switzerland in 2016 – in the Upper Rhine region between Rekingen and Zweidlen. At that time, in a pilot project, SBB AG offered the complete track renewal with all associated trades and logistics for public tender for the first time. Subject to compliance with the quality and safety requirements, the client granted the tendering companies plenty of leeway for applying innovative ideas and future-oriented technology to complete the overall project. Using high-quality, modern technology, a clever logistics concept and an integrated renewal method, SPITZKE tendered the most economic overall package to SBB AG and was awarded the contract. The overall project included the renewal of 3,500 m track including ballast cleaning, which was carried out using the RM 900 S. The machine’s performance of 1,000 m per shift is impressive, and for Switzerland represented unprecedented performance parameters. In addition, 1,030 m wire mesh angle sections were installed, cable crossings were laid, 5,600 t ballast was laid, safety systems were removed and re-installed, and the contact line was partially renewed and was adjusted along the entire route.
