Over the next four years, the railway infrastructure company SPITZKE will take over the track maintenance for DB Netz AG on Swiss soil. The core services of the framework contract for the Basel Bad train station and Schaffhausen marshalling yard include minor maintenance, the replacement of switch parts, the replacement of rails and sleepers, small-length conversions, track position authorisation work and crane work, track civil engineering, and surveying and welding work.
SPITZKE relies on its subsidiary SRS SPITZKE RAIL SWISS AG to provide the services. The young railway infrastructure company was approved by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) for welding work last year, and the track maintenance work for DB Netz AG is another important step for the subsidiary as it establishes itself as a solid and reliable player in the Swiss railway infrastructure sector.
“We are very pleased to be able to carry out track maintenance work for DB Netz AG as a competent and reliable partner over the next five years. We are feeling positive about the challenges ahead and see the framework agreement as a great opportunity to prove the SPITZKE Group’s competence to other infrastructure operators,” says Petra Bieli, director of SRS SPITZKE RAIL SWISS AG.
